I’m Fiona Haynes, and like most good stories, getting here wasn’t exactly a straight line.
I started my career in design and art direction in Australia before moving into marketing, digital, web, and eventually project management. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work with national and international brands as well as growing local businesses across a wonderfully varied range of projects and industries.
I’ve also worked on the client side, so I know how it feels to be the one receiving the service, not just delivering it.
That experience has given me a perspective that sits at the intersection of creativity, business, technology, and delivery. I’ve seen firsthand how the pieces of a business can become disconnected — and how much can change when they start working together.
That’s why The Hive focuses on the client journey: how clients and teams actually experience a business, from onboarding through delivery to offboarding.
I’ve also had more than a few moments where someone has looked at me and said, “We have a bit of a problem…”
Honestly? Those are some of my favourite moments.
I like figuring things out. I enjoy getting underneath the surface, connecting the dots, asking the questions that uncover what’s really going on, and turning a tangled situation into a practical, step-by-step plan that can actually move forward.
My PMP certification gives me a strong foundation in structured project management, but years of working in the middle of real projects have taught me that good project management is about much more than timelines and spreadsheets.
It’s about people. It’s about clear communication. It’s about knowing when to dig deeper, when to keep things moving, and when to step back and look at the bigger picture.
And sometimes, it’s knowing when everyone just needs to step away from the computer and grab a coffee.
