The Hive Consultant ("The Hive," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and your rights. It applies to our website, thehiveconsultant.ca, and to the services we provide.

What we collect

  • When you contact us or book a call: your name, email, phone number, business name, business type and anything you choose to share about your business.

  • When you become a client: contact and billing details, agreement and project information, and the business information, documents and system access needed to deliver the work. This may include information about your employees or clients when it's part of reviewing a journey.

  • When you visit our website: basic technical information such as pages visited, browser type and approximate location, collected through cookies and analytics.

We collect only what we need for the purposes below.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your inquiry and book conversations

  • To provide, manage and invoice our services

  • To communicate with you about your project

  • To improve our website and services

  • To send updates or insights, only if you've agreed to receive them

  • To meet legal and accounting obligations

We won't use your information for any other purpose without your consent, unless the law requires or allows it.

Consent

By contacting us, booking a call or becoming a client, you consent to us collecting and using your information as described here. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting our privacy officer, though this may limit our ability to provide services.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only when needed to run our business and deliver our services:

  • Service providers that host our website, scheduling, client portal, email and payments, such as Squarespace

  • Specialist partners working on your project, such as web developers or copywriters, only with your knowledge and only the information they need. Partners are expected to keep it confidential.

  • When required by law.

Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States. When information is stored outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that country.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including password-protected accounts, secure client portal access and limiting access to people who need it. No system is completely secure, but we take care to protect your information as we would our own confidential business information.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Inquiry details are kept for two years; client records for seven years for accounting purposes. Information is then securely deleted.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies to make it work and to understand how visitors use it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work as a result.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask questions about how it's used. Contact our privacy officer and we'll respond within the time required by law.

Concerns and complaints

If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, contact our privacy officer first and we'll work to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed.
